Description Believed to have been taken May 3, 1863 at Camp Barry, an artillery camp about a mile north of the Capitol building. Actually 5 of the officers were members of the 17th, and they are identified at the bottom of the photo. Many, many hours were devoted to the restoration of the original image which resides at the Library of Congress. It is GORGEOUS! More info on the 17th at the Orleans NY Genweb site, and in the book 'Hard Breathing Days.'
