Description I got this idea from a good friend who drew up a crude sketch the laid out his idea. I painted the open door to show what would happen if you answered Jesus knock at the door. I painted the cross at the entrance of the door and showed the shadow of it on the ground leading inside toward the observer. I coated the entire painting with a flat black and almost went too far with it. The whole canvas was very, very dark. I had intended to use silver to show light radiating from just behind the cross, and since the painting was already so dark, I used more silver to brighten the piece up. The last thing that I wanted was for this particular painting to be dark. I had to repaint the cross and the lettering in black. The result was quite surprising, and I am very pleased with the brightness of the image and the high contrast the black paint against the silver.Original Painting is acrylic on 24 X 48 stretched canvas.
