Artist Statement I was a full-time student at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. I studied with notable artists there and I was trained in an academic direct painting approach. Some of my teachers had trained under Charles Hawthorne and Henry Hensche of the Cape Cod School. I have shown in many of the galleries in New Your City, California, Seattle area, as well as in national and international juried exhibitions where I have won prizes. Best in Show at Scott Milo Gallery in June 2017, Juried by Lois Griffel. My paintings are contemporary impressionist in style. I combine strong composition and value with spontaneous application of colorful pigments using the effects of natural light. In my landscapes I hope to conjure up memories of a time in our lives or a desired place yet to visit. I like to catch the significant characteristic and energy of the people in my paintings and drawings. I combine this casual spontaneity with my classical training to produce my original pieces.
