Description January 18, 2020. I have been wanting to do this winter hike across the lake for several years now but between conditions not being right and work it took me till now. This is Portage Glacier in Alaska. On the far right you can see someone on a fat tire bike to give a sense of scale. I had some errands to run that day so I had a later start than I wanted but I was able to make it. I was the very last person off the ice this day and it was almost completely dark by the time I got to my car. It was certainly an adventure though.
