Artist Statement I am a native of Shreveport, Louisiana I was born into an aesthetic family. My father was an artist also and studied Architecture at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He taught me a lot about art. Growing up in my family was like living in a school for the visual and preforming arts. Everyone Sang, danced , and created some type of art or fashion design. My artistic endeavors were nurtured and encouraged. And I was expected to be an artist.
By the time I reached first grade I knew I was to become an artist .
I am retired Air Force. And a Graduate of The University Of The Incarnate Word at San Antonio, Tx. with a BA in Art an a minor in Fashion Design and a AA in Art from St. Philips College. I'm also a former High School Art teacher.
I am an Artist because it is what I was born to do, it is my first love, my bliss. I am a maker of things. My style is representational and Spiritual. I work in mixed media, water based media, photography. I also design Jewelry . I find my inspiration in many artist Frida Kahlo, Elizabeth Catlett, Tamara de Lempicka , Tamayo, William H. Johnson, and Picasso to name a few.
I believe a work of art should speak to the soul of the viewer , bringing peace and balance into their living space.
Thank you for stopping by. Blessings and Creativity to you.
