My interest in photography began in junior high school when I saw Ansel Adams Tetons and the Snake River photograph. I was instantly hooked and knew that I wanted to learn how to attempt to create an image of timeless beauty.

I took several classes in high school and landed on the school newspaper and yearbook staff. Eventually, I became the photo editor and won the 1990 Kansas 6A State Journalism Competition in news photography and print.

I attended the University of Kansas and continued to take courses in journalism and photography. During college, I was presented with the opportunity to intern for Mark Seliger, then chief photography editor of Rolling Stone Magazine, in the summer of 1993 in New York City. It was an amazing experience. I will always look back on that summer with great fondness as I also developed a relationship with my future wife, Kristie.

I graduated from the University of Kansas in 1995 with BA in English Literature. I have been working for my family's aerospace manufacturing company for 12 years. I am now the Vice President of Operations and run the day to day operation of the company. As I concentrated on work, I always kept photography close at hand.

While my career may be different than most artists on this site, I have always loved this as one of my favorite pastimes. My wife and I make our home in Kansas City and have two beautiful subjects in our two sons.

It is my hope that some of my images speak to you as Ansel Adams "Tetons..." spoke to me so long ago. Thanks in advance for your interest.

Brian MacDonald
