Artist Statement I am fortunate to have a heritage rich in both New Zealand Maori and European ancestory to draw upon.

I belong to Ngai Tai and Tuwharetoa iwi (tribes), graduating from Hamilton Teachers College and the University of Waikato with a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and Certificate in Bilingual Education.

Generally I prefer to sketch from life first and then spend time visualizing how I would like an image to appear on canvas before painting. Using acrylic paint, I love figurative painting, exploring different color combinations and using patterns from my culture where possible.
