Description 11'x15' Watercolor;Camaldolese Monastery is a beautiful monastery on the outskirts of Krakow in the Las Wolski forest. Here the Camaldolites part of the Benedictine family of monastic orders have lived in peace and obscurity since their founder Mikoaj Wolski (after whom the entire forest is now named) arrived from Italy and wangled the land from Sebastian Lubomirski in 1604. Damaged by fire and rebuilt in 1814, this large, walled, white limestone architectural complex is today one of the finest representations of late-Baroque style in Europe. The Camaldolese is an order of monastic hermits. Each monk lives in his hermitage, they only meet for mass and prayers, and they gather for communal meals only a few times a year. Praying in the church, the Camaldolese use no organ or any other musical instrument. There is no radio or TV-set in the monastery, nor are holiday leaves or family visits permitted. An extremely isolated, strict and devout order, there are presently less than 60 Camaldolese monks in the world, of which 7 live in Las Wolski.The monastery opens to men any day of the year during regular opening hours, however, women are allowed to visit only 12 days a year, including Easter and Christmas.

Artist Statement Lisa first started painting with color pencils at the age of 10, and she has always loved to paint ever since; it allows her to express feelings with a peaceful mind. Self-taught and self-developed in watercolor and ink painting, each of Lisa's painting is a journey to adventure. Lisa presently resides with her husband and their son in the State of Washington. She is a licensed architect, and currently works in an architecture firm, while continuing self study and painting on architecture and landscape subjects in watercolors.
