Description Pictured is a bend in the James River in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond got its name from this bend, as it reminded one of its founders, William Byrd, of a similar part of the Thames River near Richmond Hill in England. I took the picture from atop Libby Hill in the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood of Richmond.
