Description Here we see a couple of keas sharing a secret. I spent a very enjoyable couple of hours at the summit of Avalanche Peak, observing the keas. They're very mischievous and have a keen sense of fun and curiosity and will happily investigate any rucksack lying on the ground. They also gather in groups in the trees and appear to be laughing about their adventures that day! The yellow mandible and eye ring indicate that the kea lower in this photo is a juvenile. They also have fiery red feathers on the undersides of their wing - very striking to see in flight!
Mark Harrison, UK Member Since February 2007 Artist Statement I enjoy photographing landscapes and wildlife while travelling. Here you can find some of my favourite photos from New Zealand, Iceland, the Dolomites of Italy, Cornwall and the Orkney and Shetland Islands far in the north of Scotland. I love the beauty of nature and hope that you will enjoy these uplifting photos as much as I enjoyed being there!
