Rachel Lake, New York Member Since July 2013 Artist Statement My name is Rachel Lake, I'm 22 years old, and I have an art habit. I recently moved to the Big Apple, but my roots are planted firmly in the New Jersey pinelands where I spent the first 18 years of my life with my wonderful family and six siblings. Art has always been a part of my life; when I was sixteen, I took my first figure drawing course at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia by scholarship. Since starting college, I have focused more on my writing than painting, but I am trying to encourage myself to be open to more creative venues, such as my recent interest in photography and producing fiction radio podcasts. I currently attend Sarah Lawrence College as an MFA candidate in poetry and do some editing/illustrating on the side.
