Description At 20,561 ft in elevation, the peak of Chimborazo Volcano in Ecuador is the closest point on Earth to the Sun. Everest is higher in elevation when measured from sea-level, but due to it's proximity to the equator where the Earth's crust bulges, the peak of Chimborazo is the point on Earth furthest from the center of the Earth and thus closest to the Sun.
Michael Crider, Minnesota Member Since February 2010 Artist Statement I have been interested in photography most of my life. I started as a young boy snapping pictures with my imagination - always looking for interesting things that may escape the attention of most people - and have progressed in technology throughout the years.
Recently I have begun to collect some of my favorites to share with others. I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoyed taking it!
