Description This 10 x 12 oil painting was created during February 2014 in one sitting, painting 'wet in to wet'.The subject is a number of sailing boats being prepared for use on the water one afternoon, on the waterfront at Weston Shore on Southampton water. It is a spot where many famous ships of the past would have been viewed from sailing away from the UK, as well as current cruise ships. The dead tree, with many missing branches is a landmark in the locality. In the background can be seen the start of the port of Southampton with some large grain silos and a car transporting ship beside moored up.
Martin Davey, Southampton Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement Hi,
Welcome to my gallery, which contains largely illustrations for the childrens market.
I like my paintings to be as accessible as possible to a wide audience. Detail and colour are important, combined with a simple visual message for any one to enjoy.
The artwork is created entirely in the art program, photoshop, from the rough drawing up to the finished work, using a drawing tablet.
My career has largely been based in creating artwork for the animation industry.
