Description My new series of skyline city paintings of buildings are inspired from views of city landscapes vistas from New York and Londons Thames, where I was born. Studying at Kingsway college in design and technical studies which included sculpture, painting, printing, textiles and photography to name a few.I do not wish to copy or reproduce a particular city scape but aim for an abstract representation.This allows viewers to ask questions of a familiar building shape or outline but also not to obstruct but to observe colour juxtapositions and colour layers producing a three dimensional perspective to a flat horizon.Abstract contemporary painting is exciting and new to me. Experimenting with Acrylic which were not suitable to portrait paintings. Acrylic are bad at skin tones and could never reproduce the depth of flesh tone as acquired from layers of glazed oil paint can.I became more fascinated by its quick sculptural development and its quick drying layers aided my need to build up layers of paint giving a 3D view unparalleled in any other type of paintAcrylic although can be varnish its not necessary and I find left unvarnished more presentable from all angles allowing a greater feel for the work without the glare of glaze interfering with view.
