Description Again, the black dot in the middle is the starting point. This time, it flows into a spiral, a swirl that holds and defines all the colors that fill the space. While at the center the colors start out in cold, dark hues, the further you look to the outside, the more warmth, light and brightness there is.
Nana Dumitra, Langley, BC Member Since May 2012 Artist Statement Nana was born in Austria and lived in Romania, the US and the Philippines before settling in Canada in 2007. Nana's grandmother was an artist and instilled in her a fascination with art at a very young age. Art has been a part of her life for decades, but it took until 2006 to find 'her' medium - oil pastels. Nana loves the bright colors, the creamy texture, the effects she can create, layering, smudging, blending. At first, using oil pastels had a purely therapeutic value for her - it helped deal with her depression. Over time, in an internal transformation Nana moved from darkness to light. Today, her art reflects this as well. Nana is colorfully alive and her art is just one way this new life breaks forth. Nana's hope is that you draw as much joy and satisfaction from looking at her art as she does from creating it.
