Description This painting is my expression of Isaiah 2:4 (NIV):He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. A verse which expresses the Gods plan for world peace. I have adopted a strong peace stance as part of my faith. This painting also thus presents a challenge and critique of the church for involvement and sanctioning of violence. The Saint James cross, which is also a sword, is depicted here beaten into a plow and is a depiction of my hope for the church to live this verse today.
Duncan Ris, Abbotsford Member Since October 2009 Artist Statement I am young married student currently attending Bible college. I don't know what I am going to do with my life. I rediscovered my love of art and creation the summer of 2009 when I took a month just to paint and then held and auction to sell my paintings. I took art throughout high school and attended film school upon graduation.
My wife, Amy, is a source of both support and inspiration in my art.
