Description Only some days before, I had made an image in the very same place, at the same time of day and in the same morning light. I had even used it on my blog as an Image of the Day, thus there was no need to try it again. I can't really say why I still did and what I hoped to achieve, but in any case it was harder than the last time, because I was in a hurry and constantly people were passing by and cast all sorts of shadows that I did not want. This is one such failed attempt, and only at home, when I saw it, it struck me that this had an interesting quality. It looked like a gathering, and more, those shadows not only gathered, they gathered in front of this sign, almost like a religious cult. Thus came the title: The Congregation.
Andreas Manessinger, Vienna Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement I'm a photographer based in Vienna, Austria's capital, and Carinthia, Austria's southern, sunny province. Since autumn 2006 I have a daily photoblog.
Doing photography on a daily basis has been very challenging and incredibly rewarding at once. It seems easy to get one single good image in a whole day, but doing it every day is a completely different story. From one shooting you come home with ten or more candidates, and only one of them can be the Image of the Day - and the next day you begin again from zero.
It's a constant challenge to creativity, but nothing could have been better training to my vision and my imagination. Visit my blog to follow me on my journey.
