Description This acrylic painting was inspired by Salvador Dali's 'The Elephants'. The vibrant colors of Dali's original work captivated me into 'needing' to put my own spin on it. Changing the elephant to a llama, the obelisk to a Buddhist monk (to represent the Dahli Lama), and using Dali's name made this parody come together perfectly. It just made sense!
Lisa Ippolito Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement I am a New Orleans native, now living in southwest Mississippi. I was raised in a large Sicilian family, and was constantly surrounded by the amazing influences of my rich family heritage and the wonderful city I was fortunate enough to be born in. I love humor and creativity. I am not afraid to push the envelope in the name of art or for the sake of humor. My artistic pursuits began just 6 years ago, and have taken me in a variety of directions. I am constantly exploring my boundaries and developing my skills. I especially enjoy portrait sketches. I love that moment when a sketch "becomes" a person, that moment when a personality enters the canvas! I also love the challenge of word play with titles and content of famous works. My work is diverse and ever-expanding. I have participated in several juried art shows and won several awards. I welcome any commission requests.
