Description Features a Union soldier (who resembles Abe Lincoln) waving a Union club, ready to bash the 7-headed Medusa figure labeled Secession. Each head carries the name of a different Southern leader. The tail of the beast looks fearsome but the heads seem less than terrifying, with docile human faces. The beasts claws are also less than formidable and seem to be batting feebly at the union soldier. The cartoon shows that the Union was viewed as stronger than the Confederacy, and that it would be relatively simple to defeat the southern secessionists.
