People always tell me they want to “live in” my paintings. I’ve heard that over and over throughout the years, and can’t help but agree, because my art is a direct reflection of my dreams and passions. The bold Mid-century architecture I’ve always admired is reinterpreted and prominently featured in untamed tropical surroundings, along with my ever-present tiki motifs, creating a complimentary juxtaposition of primitive and modern influences. My watercolor and acrylic pieces are most often infused with misty combinations of blues, greens and browns, a palette that, for me, conjures up nostalgic images of grade school maps, vintage travel agency reception areas, and memories of my own travels.

The scenes that I create are meant to convey a sense of peace and solitude, places that exist mainly for private enjoyment and rejuvenation. Over the past two years especially, I feel I have made great strides in advancing and refining the expression of my unique vision. By working on a variety of new pieces each day, continually studying traditional Pacific art forms and fearlessly exploring new techniques and media, I am able to successfully recreate and share the beauty of the worlds that I discover between the realms of fantasy and reality.
