Artist Statement Sue began drawing and writing at the age of three after immigrating to Canada from London, England.

Although always fascinated by both art and science, she bypassed the promise of a career in Medical Illustration to consider broader pursuits. After earning concurrent degrees in Fine Art and Art History from Sheridan College and University of Toronto, she interned at entertainment technology powerhouse Silicon Graphics in their Marketing department. She also studied Computer Animation at night. Drawing, painting and photography continued to be a daily part of her life.

For over twenty years, Sue continued to develop her unique, abstract style with different unusual mediums and materials: Handmade Japanese papers, leather, fabric, plaster, wine, gin and rum combined with acrylics, latex, pastels and crayon. Her work vibrates with colour. Still fascinated with technology, she sometimes employs digital techniques in her creative process.

Niagara has had a profound impact on her work. Light and colours are simply “different” there. Often, you can tell which pieces were created outside the studio and which came to life beneath a blooming magnolia in the late afternoon or in the blazing sunlight of a vineyard.

Her goal is to inspire the viewer.

To take them back to a personal moment or peace, power or enlightenment.

Every client sees something subtly different in every piece that she creates.

Sue makes her home in Niagara-on-the-Lake with son Ben and partner JR.
