Artist Statement Dr. Michael Cassidy is the co-founder of Studio 4\2, where he does fine art photography. Most of his images attempt to capture the awe he feels when out in nature. He says:” All of the images speak to me of the unimaginable beauty of this world and of our duty to attempt to protect it for future generations.”
Recent solo exhibitions include Western Water, a collection of images about the beauty and importance of water to the American west at the Mesquite Arts Center, All Things Bright and Beautiful, his collection of photos inspired by the hymn of the same name at the Mesquite Arts Center and Quiet Time, a collection of meditative photographs at the Goodrich Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Recent juried group exhibits include the sequence of photos entitled Vida y Muerte en el Serengeti for the Dia de los Muertos show at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas, TX, the Texas Visual Artists Annual Show, the Lakewood Library Annual Art Show, the Artscape Emerging Artist’s show in Plano, Tx and on-line shows at Imaginestation, Projekt30, and A Singular Creation. His images have been used for a variety of commercial uses. For example, Wild Goose Island was the cover of a CD by classical guitarist Jerry Willard.
Cassidy has studied photography or attended workshops with John Carnival and Leo Durlak, the principle photographers of Microscapes; Vincent Versace; Tim Cooper of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography; and landscape photographer George De Wolfe.
Cassidy is married to Barbara Seelye and they live high up in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. He is the proud parent of three grown children, Aaron, Brian and Kelly and granddaughter, Gwen.
