Description Everyone knows elks are deer-like animals with magnificent antlers, but that's true only in rutting season. Come spring, the antlers are shed. The mighty bull elk resembles the female elk cow at this time of the year (actually, I think bull elks look like a cross between a horse and an 'moo-cow' without their antlers), or perhaps more kindly...like a an army recruit with his hair shaved off. Unlike the recruit's bristled hair on top of his head, the elk sports two little nubs instead.
Allan Carrano, Spartanburg, SC Member Since July 2016 Artist Statement I've been an avid photographer most of my adult life, but I found a more secure livelihood in being a scientist...my other talent; not that I haven't had success as an amateur and part time professional photographer. I've been published in magazines and scenic calendars. I've also won awards, including Kodak's International Newspaper Awards (KINSA). Among some 250,000 entries, my photo placed 2nd in the color category, and was exhibited at Kodak's Epcot Pavilion in Disney World and in National Geographic Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C. Now that I've entered my retirement years, I am devoting full time to creating photographic art and sharing the results through Imagekind.
