Polaroid Art, Beaches. These photos were shot with an SX-70, an old-style Polaroid camera from the '50s, and Time Zero film. The emulsion is still soft when film ejects from the bottom front of the camera. Before it hardens, I manipulate the surface with a wooden tool, moving the colors around to create a painted look. It's like painting on a canvas, only the colors are inside the film, and I bring them out or mute them. Then a large file scan is made, so we can make 40+ inch prints. You can still buy the cameras at garage sale and such, but the film has not been produced for years, making these images a valuable vestige of a now-lost art form.
