Fola Lawson "It is with emotion that the memory of an old man sitting by teethe fire, telling stories and legends come to mind. It is to restore these values that I paint a kind of illustration, the idea is to conceptualise the painting from this orality. What are really the stories our society or in the African tradition ? I would say that these are mediums via which life morals are taught if it is only in these stories are represented by imaginative forms. Faces in the shape of masks cotoient scarification marks, cowries, footprints, cabalistic symbols and unidentified shadows. Everything happens spontaneously as my brushstrokes and mind move. The desire to create a symbolic tales and legends and African legends in another form of writing from this language that expands in a much deeper approach to the enigma of African tradition."
