cocktails, cocktails, cocktails...not mere drinks, but the sophisticated blending of fine alcohol and exotic flavors into dazzling concoctions to arouse the senses...they tingle the taste buds, fill the air with addictive scents, sparkle in the light, tinkle and are slightly sticky to the touch...cocktails are artistic transformations with an occasional decor of fruit or vegetable...the swinger set held the cocktail in highest esteem...frank, sammy, dean, what would they be if not for the drinks that were perpetually within their grasp...they were suave, they were sophisticated, they enjoyed cocktails, often...whether it be martini, gimlet or highball, shaken, stirred, straight up or on the rocks...the kinetic aroma would dazzle like technicolor for the nose...the glassware would ring to the dropping of ice...a spritz of juice would fly through the air, punctured by the stir stick that would top off these dynamic creations...a good bar keep could pour and form with the ease of a trapeze act and the slight of hand of a fine magician...in perpetual motion, splashing and dashing, serving up with care upon a napkin, just for you, right before your very eyes...the ring of the cash register only adds to the cacophony...ah, at last, a sip to die for...and then it's time for another, for the magic to begin again..."another cocktail my fine bar keep"...over the din of the surrounding circus...
