Artist Statement I was born and raised in the heart of the Central Valley, Modesto, California . After 18 years of running barefoot through pastures, throwing dirt clods at crop dusters, and hanging out in peach orchards and on canal banks, I joined the Air Force and lived in such exotic places as Texas and Japan.

While awaiting the birth of my first daughter, I decided to write and illustrate a story my mother had told me as a child. It was the first time I realized I could draw. As I began my career as a mother I decided to enroll in a Bachelor of Arts program in Advertising and Graphic Design at the La Jolla Academy of Advertising Art. I created t-shirt designs for several beach clothing companies, worked in production departments for advertising agencies and magazines, and freelanced as a graphic designer.

I create mixed media collages and art pieces that bring together recycled/reclaimed magazine paper, newspaper, boxes, and found and vintage ephemera. Not just because it seems responsible to reuse rather than throw away, but also because there is a lingering energy attached to everyday items from all the people who have used them previously. These pieces have a voice, a story, that adds to the creative process.
