Description It was about 7PM, a good time to be at the platform since the day visitors were gone. Given variables such as lousy weather, limited time on the platform, no fish, etc., I don't think I could have captured this shot much better. The shot is one of those shots that visitors who come to Katmai have on their minds.
Life, death, one can get philosophical about this scene. Sure we cheered when bears caught the fish but the flip side were also the brutal deaths, which reminded me of the time of the Roman Colosseum. The fish will continue to do what they are programmed to do. Bears, almost at the top of the food chain, will do what they have to do. It's a painful and short death. "Blackened is the end."
