Artist Statement I love capturing expression on film, preserving feelings. I am about fun photos in a relaxed atmosphere that allows me to see and photograph the real you. By paying careful attention to lighting and composition the mood of the moment can be revived years later when looking through a photo album. I like to photograph people while they are in their spaces – at work, at play, at arts and sports.

I was born in Romania and spent half my childhood there before moving to Canada with my family. I attended the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia and through its program I experienced the world of photojournalism. I like to share my photos and to interact with my subjects and audience. Having an urge to travel from an early age, I already hitchhiked across Canada by the time I was 16. Towards the end of 2004 I started my attempt to travel around the word without boarding a plane – I failed in May of 2005, after boarding a plane out of Australia heading to Taiwan. I have spent the last two years living in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has allowed me to focus my expertise on people and critically asses the world around me. It has allowed me to get past cultural and language barriers and make perfect strangers comfortable with photography. Great photography is about emotion, emotion is all about people. Any photography session, from portraits to the shooting of an industrial machine, begins with me getting to know the subject – you.
