Artist Statement It all started with doodling, usually on sticky notes given to me by co-workers or on the newspaper's crossword puzzle. I am an obsessive doodler, and I often use these tossed-off sketches as a base for my finished pieces, using the same methodological approach for both. While I'm not a “mathematical” person (algebra was my worst subject in high school), it fits my nature to apply logical constraints during the creative process; I am also fascinated with games and puzzles, which I often use as stepping-stones to the works I create. Precision is important in the materials I use—my “medium” of choice being vector illustration programs like Adobe Illustrator—and I also make drawings and collages by hand with pen and cut paper, occasionally using a computer-guided paper cutter to get the shapes I need.
