Artist Statement Joe Fairbanks: Artist - Athlete - Humanitarian

I am active in community/national/global humanitarian projects that benefit children and adults around the world with developmental and physical disabilitites. Like me, they strive everyday to achieve greatness while struggling with lifelong challenges.

Art patrons tell me my work reflects the innocence of youth and entertains the child within us all. Curators, professors and everyday friends say they are whimsical - intricate characterizations of humanity in its diversity.

I call them my 'cartoon guys' or 'friends in my head'. I sincerely hope that looking at my work will cause them to become your friends, too. Executives tend to relax and enjoy their work more after looking at my friends. HR directors laugh a little more and stressed out employees find a figure or two that remind them of themselves.

Use my website to enjoy a moment of respite - find your favorite images to purchase and hang them in your office or home. Look at them to find similarities with yourself - you may be somewhat symmetrical; partially comical but above all else, you are unique.

As an artist, I seek to partner with fellow artists, emerging nations and NGO's whose focus is to raise awareness of the magnificence of the human soul.

I would like to see any of my thousands of glyph images interwoven into executive office fountains; adaptive walkways,nature paths, parks & rest areas. They would be appropriate background laser images on stone waterfalls & fountains that promote safe leisure activity for patrons of all abilities.
