Description Chrome Circle in Red Abstract Art to Buy. Red! I love the red in this photograph! The color red was absolutely the focus of my attention as I took this shot. I wanted to capture red in all its richness and glory. I wanted a thick, saturated, heavy red that would blast the viewer in the face. Art can never be ignored. This is one of my favourite things to do with a camera: take an everyday object and photograph it in an interesting & striking way. I found this red fire box mounted on one of the car park walls beneath my apartment building. An object so common, you wouldnt give it a second glance. Take the photograph a certain way, and it becomes a silver disc floating in a sea of red!The silver handle is massively important to the shot. Without contrast, the shot would run the risk of being ignored. I love the detail & texture of the metallic components. You can almost taste the metal, as you look it. As a filmmaker, I really struggled to frame circles (much to my frustration). However as a photographer, most of my best work features circles (to my great satisfaction).I have this shot on my wall at home. Its arranged in a collection of identical prints of various sizes. Believe me the bigger it is, the more interesting it becomes. It takes the form of a heavy, industrial piece. A confident testament to engineering and craft delivered in a metal fist punch, gloved in boxing red. abstract, art, artwork, buy, contemporary, modern, photography, pictures, prints, sale
Toby Davis, Luxembourg Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement Hello. I’m Toby and welcome to my photography gallery. If you have the time, take a moment to browse. Maybe one of my photographs will stand up and sing for you.
For me, photography is about sharing my eyes with the world. It is an intensely intimate act to show another what you see; to struggle to capture what you find to be beautiful. I find beauty in the very striking, monumental and picturesque, but I also find beauty in the mundane, ignored and functional. To truly capture the elevation of the eye-catching and elevate the subtle of the passed-by is the ultimate test and responsibility of a photographer.
As you browse my store, you’ll notice that there are relatively few photographs. To my mind most of the photos I take are journeys, not destinations. I only sell my very best work.
