Description On the 29th October 1944, during the first battle of Courland, Sergeant Hermann Bix of the 1st Battalion, 35th Panzer Regiment was in the forefront of a counter attack alongside the 108th Grenadier Regiment near the Dzelzgaseskrogs crossroads. The artist has a long-standing historical interest in the German armed forces that fought on land during the Second World War. Thus, the artist specialises in depicting individual soldiers or the battles that they fought in. The works are original and inspired by the wealth of photographs from the conflict and attempt to portray the experience of conflict as captured on the faces of the participants.
