Artist Statement " I normally paint in a sort of obsessive trance which probably isn't much different from the dream state, so hopefully I'm tapping into that realm that some think we all share as human beings. That would be good, because my intent is to touch on universals; those things that connect us all and that people seem to recognize even when there's nothing clearly recognizable in the painting.

If I'm doing it right, painting feels like I'm entirely "in the moment," the same feeling you get when, say, you're surfing a big wave or snowboarding, so intense that there's no normal thought process, just a complete "oneness" ... the moment stretches out into infinity. KKrrr-ack! Sudden beauty! Making art can be the same feeling. No words unless it's inarticulate like "yeah, yeah, YEAH! That's IT! I've felt it when just looking at art. And making art. "
