Description As a diver, I never lack sources of inspiration. Ive seen some unbelievable things in the ocean: mollusks, soft corals, sea snails, and sponges of great variety, colors, and textures, all living together in what we know as a coral reef. When observed in their natural environments, these creatures can be difficult to distinguish from each other. Many are splendidly camouflaged and most are soft, fleshy, and mysterious. Together, they exist harmoniously as a community of sea life. They can be found in male and female forms, sometimes remarkably within the same creature.
Bonnie Kelso, Las Vegas Member Since June 2009 Artist Statement A self-proclaimed nature-lover, adventurer, and artist, I have chosen to follow where my dreams may take me. As a young girl living among the Appalachian Mountains I was always comfortable with spending time outdoors. When my family moved to Virginia, I learned to appreciate art and natural history via the wealth of museums located in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. I studied fine arts at the Rhode Island School of Design and later returned to the DC area to pursue a rewarding career in exhibition design. I ended up working for the museums that so inspired me earlier in life. After extensive travel abroad, I decided to pursue an earlier dream of working in the fine arts. I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada with my husband and four cats. A percentage of all my art sales goes towards organizations that promote environmental conservation.
