Description I took this photograph of this Bald Eagle on Saturday 4-17-2010, at 1523 hours after hiking 13 miles round trip into Woods Canyon Lake which is located about 33 miles East of Payson off of RT 260. The road to the lake was still closed so you have to hike in through the snow. Of course this was no easy task carrying an approximate 25 lb camera bag and an 8 lb Nikon Lens. I used a Nikon D-700 12Mp D-SLR, with a 200-400mm VR II, F 4 Nikon Lens zoomed in to 300mm at F 5, 1/640, sec, ISO 640, at 4800 Degrees Kelvin, 14 Bit RAW. I opened the picture in RAW and adjusted Recover to + 55. In CS3, I added some Levels (20/1.00/255), Curves (out 52 / in 66), created an adjustment layer to Dodge the tail and white of the inner feathers 5 %, Cloned the right foot 10 % to lighted the hard light from the sun, Color matched a small portion of the beak with a Brush tool at 10 % to lighten the hard light on the beaks front area, used a Magic Wand at 15 Tolerance (Contiguous) for the sky surrounding the animal and darkened it with Levels at (149/1.00/255), Saturated the entire pic to + 10, made a Quick Mask of body only and did Curves to (out 75/in 58), sharpened to 1.5 Highpass and saved in layers.
