Description I took this photo on Saturday morning 2-6-2010, at 0640 hours, on Highway 79 about 3 miles South of Florence Junction at mile marker 146. This Great Horned Owl was sitting about 90 feet from the road. I pulled over and took a few shots right from my driver seat. He stayed in place for about 8 shots before flying off. I used a Nikon D-700 D-SLR, 12 mp camera with a 200-400mm F 4 VR II Nikkor Lens. I zoomed in to 400mm, at F 4, ISO 500, 5850 Degrees Kelvin, 1/250 Second Shutter Speed, and a TTL SB-900 Nikon Flash. The sun had not come up yet to get the warming colors. I did not care due to being so close to this animal. . I cloned his eyes, adjusted Levels, Curves, and SatDodged the white feathers and Burned the dark feathers, and saved in layers.
