Artist Statement To create a visual voice I take various aspects of life and fuse them together into a collective language. Most of my work reflects my life experiences, my family, and friends. But, currently it is a manifestation of my perception of recurring dreams. I have learned that my art is not about technical realism, but about creating a world filled with things we don’t normally see. I am greatly influenced by the Italian Renaissance, classical figures, along with surrealism, and I use these as a base for my creations.
I am a mixed media artist and printmaker whose work explores visual storytelling. My work has been exhibited at venues including The Hermitage Museum, Norfolk, VA, The Peninsula Fine Art Center, Newport News, VA, and The Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. I received a B.F.A. in Drawing and Design from Old Dominion University in May, 2008. I reside and create work in Norfolk, Virginia.
