Description Lithography takes advantage of the repulsion between oil and water to transfer an image from a smooth limestone surface to a sheet of paper. It is considered one of the most authentic means of artistic reproduction as it prints directly the touch of the artist's hand. On the other hand, sheer production numbers detract somewhat from its appeal to collectors, as the method permits practically unlimited editions. The first artists who left their mark on the lithographic tradition were mainly French and go from the early Delacroix and Gricualt to Daumier, Degas, Manet, and especially Odilon Redon.I was inspired for this print by an unfortunate experience with an espresso machine during my stay with an Italian family. However, it makes a great story! This print is perfect for hanging in the kitchen.
Amy Pospiech, Philadelphia, PA Member Since October 2008 Artist Statement This year, I will be entering my fourth year of college - as a marketing and international business double major. I began my college career majoring in architecture and then graphic design. I'm currently living in Philadelphia and when I'm not studying or working, I'm creating art. I studied abroad in Rome in the Spring of 2008 and was very inspired, not just by the beauty but the frustrations of living in another country. I would love to go back someday but am happy to be home right now. You can learn more about me and e-mail me through the links on my blog: whoaitsaimz.blogspot.com
