Artist Statement Most people ask just what is a "digital artist"? Patrick paints pictures on his computer, using a program called Corel Painter and a Wacom Graphics pad the same way a painter would use a canvas and a brush. Patrick started painting way way back in 1983, where he majored in fine art at Virginia Tech (of all places a agricultural/engineering school!) He returned to his homeland, the Eastern Shore of VA after his softmore year and earned a degree in Electonics from the Eastern Shore Community College. He still continued to paint at this time, studying watercolors under well known artist Don Sparrow, and exhibited his work in several local shows including the Chincoteague Easter Decoy Show and the Deborah Waterfowl Show. Around 1990 he started concentrating on his other artistic love, music. Painting took a backseat. For the next decade and a half he played guitar and keyboards in rock bands, theater, and church. He and his wife Sherry (vocalist extraordinaire) opened Waterfront Recording Studio, which they still operate. In 2007, he acquired Corel Painter and the Wacom pad. Seeing the potential of this fabulous new artistic medium re-awakened his passion for art. He loves to paint historical scenes from his Chesapeake Bay homeland. He also loves to paint landscapes , portraits, and various other topics. He is a committed Christian who resides in Onancock, VA.
