Artist Statement Hello and thank you for visiting my gallery. My name is York Johnson. When I start a painting I never know how its going to turn out. I just open my mind up, let things flow, and see what happens. Its always a new adventure. I hope to express emotion and feeling in my art in a way that will touch people and make them think. Playing with shapes, lines, and colors there is always something new to discover. Their interaction with one another and how they can work together and against each other is very interesting to me. I frequently use fluorescent colors in my work because they make me happy and bring a certain life and energy to the work. I get inspiration from natural and man made objects, my emotions and my mental state, and by trying to have an alternate interpretation of the world around me. I would classify my art as abstract with some surrealism and mostly focusing on color and line interactions.
