Artist Statement I am an artist and musician (and reluctant technologist) living in Sydney Australia with my wife and son. I have always been interested in animals and how they can be seen as an aspect of ourselves, and vice versa. This is perhaps how human character and qualities first became understood in human culture - surely, in the genesis of human consciousness, animals were seen as a kind of "other folk" to whom we had some sort of relation. After all, totems and mythical ancestral beings are animals in our own ancestors' societies. It is intriguing to imagine how that fundamental kin connection was thought about in those far off times!

Here I just rely on sentiment and the conventions of our representative tradition to illustrate these themes, in order to create little scenes and tableaux, to satisfy a craving for a return to a simpler, but familiar, outlook.
