Artist Statement "Some people feel the rain, others just get wet." - Bob Marley
My shop name is derived from this quote, which has always been a favorite of mine. I've been to Jamaica so many times I consider it my second home, I love reggae, and when I recently stood on my front porch during a warm summer thunderstorm feeling the rain soaking me as I laughed out loud, it hit me-- I felt so much like ME in that moment, and this has to be my store name because I never feel more like ME as I do when I am creating art!
So to tell you more about me, I was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I live with my husband, Mike, our three demanding but loving cats and our fish. Besides vacationing to Jamaica, we enjoy going to concerts, sporting events, gathering with friends, taking road trips, and trying to make our day-to-day life an adventure.
Selling my art has always been my dream. While my degrees and career have all been in Information Technology, I have still been an artist my entire life-- drawing, painting, iconography, pysanky, murals in homes and offices, doodling during meetings, surprising my husband when he comes home to a room that's a new color-- any time when I am making something pretty with color, that's when I'm happy!
In my youth, I often won art awards, even having a drawing made into a billboard as a prize for winning 3rd place in a local competition. I took painting and drawing classes throughout college and have had pieces showcased in the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh.
Since college, I have done freelance work, painting, drawing, and doing murals. I also did the color illustration in "The Adventures of Danny Dewdrop", a children's book by Robert L. Coffey.
