Artist Statement I came to Photography late. It may be embarrassing, but it was a smart-phone that started it. The availability of that 5 megapixel jpeg only camera caused me to pause when something I saw drew my eyes back to it and actually look, perhaps experience it. Having grown up in a rural environment, I already had an appreciation of the immense amount of both planned and natural parks which the city I love, New York, preserves and cherishes, but I became aware of how nature itself finds and creates it's own environments in the city, any city, that offers the slightest opportunity. In a city filled with the arts, there are two types of artists at work, the human that aspires to the synthesis of personal vision and object or story, and the boundless determination of Life for life that is the object and the story.
