Description This is one piece of the silver/gold mermaid diptych which is a childlike wonder exploration of the world of our collective imagination that has created mermaids. Is it our love of the sea or the mystery of the deep that makes us dream of mermaids? As an avid ocean swimmer and certified scuba diver, for me it's both.

Artist Statement Born in the USA, but I grew up in Chile, where poetry and magic realism are not just genres, but the natural order of things. In my teens, we moved back to the USA, first to Indiana, then to Nebraska; where the solitude of endless skies and prairie drew me within to my own realms of imagination. Then, I went to study drama in London, UK, where I was inspired by the culture and museums filled with the world's greatest masterpieces. And now I live in Los Angeles, under Griffith Park, with Sky, the cat, where I am surrounded by year-round flowers in bloom and the beautiful faces of all colors, ages and genders that Hollywood seems to draw in.

I started painting early on, when as an only child having mostly my own imagination to entertain myself, I discovered that through painting and drawing I could make others see things that existed previously only in my head.

I am also a writer, working on my first fantasy novel, and an actress. As an actress, I go by the name of Claudia Coloma.
