Artist Statement Born in 1946 in Cleveland OH. I remember watching my mother draw Betty Boop to keep me entertained at a very young age.. that may have been my inspiration for learning to draw.
My first actual attempt came when in the 3rd grade and the teacher asked the class to pick 3 different birds. I cheated and had my brother do the first two but he didn't like my choice for number three (a horned meadowlark) so I did it myself. I have only moved forward from that point on.
Had four years of high school art, which is a good way of letting you know what you can and can't do.. what you like and what you don't. After that, I entered a commercial art school but never graduated. They wanted me to specialize in fashion illustration and, at 19, I thought I could do better.
I started showing and selling my art while still living in Newburgh New York in 1976. By the time of my divorce in 1981, I had established a pretty decent reputation and following. Returning to Ohio, I entered every show I could and became a member to a number of galleries.
I am presently a free lance artist hoping to be discovered BEFORE I die..

UPDATE: In December of 2008, I was diagnosed with color cancer. I made it through 2 surgeries, 2 rather nasty infections and 6 months of chemo. I am on my way back to feeling human but I'm still not quite there... have yet another surgery to go through. I hope this explains my absence.
