Artist Statement I’m just a girl with a serious lipgloss addiction and a camera permanantly attached to her face. I take photos. That’s about all I do. And they tend to be girly and light and frivolous because…socially relevant digital documentation on the degradation of the world…isn’t pretty.

My father was a photographer when I was a very little girl. His photos of me led to a modeling contract and for several years I modeled and did commercials around Asia. Eventually I was more interested in the camera than modeling and my father gave me a vintage Cannon and a box of black and white film.

I studied photography in college and then bounced from one genre to another. Knowing how to take a picture…and knowing what to take a picture of…are very different. I started with event photography, shooting weddings, parades, fraternity parties and military ceremonies. I dabbled in architecture, urban landsacapes, environmental photography and…family portraiture.

I stumbled onto fine-art prints as an accident. I was ‘playing photographer’ with my daughter one night. We ripped a prom dress to shreds, added every piece of jewelry we could find, and created an imaginary scenario to fuel our fun. And..it was fabulous fun. I couldn’t wait for the next shoot. Overnight she became my muse and model and I was in love with photography all over again.

Dishy Girls Photography is a living tribute to the femininity imbuing today’s woman. She delves deep within the female psyche, exploring the individual parts which make up the whole, but with a tongue-in-check approach that recognizes the bit of frivolity in us all.
