Description Governors Island, in the heart of New York Harbor, is only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. It is a world unto itself, unique and full of promise. For almost two centuries, Governors Island was a military base - home to the US Army and Coast Guard. Due to changing needs in operations, the Coast Guard closed and mothballed the Island in 1996. New Yorks leaders recognized the Islands potential, and in 2003 the federal government sold most of the Island to the people of New York for one dollar. Today, the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation (GIPEC) oversees 150 acres of the Island, while the National Park Service manages the balance, the 22-acre Governors Island National Monument which includes two 1812-era forts.

Artist Statement I graduated with a BFA in Photography and in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art & Design. Since then, I have worked as a graphic designer. Starting out in San Diego and then moving to Brooklyn to pursue a graduate degree from Pratt Institute. In 2007 I established my own design studio, pabulum design.
Travel has always been an important part of my life. And no matter where I travelled or lived, everyone I know is always surprised when I am without a camera around my neck.
These days I mostly shoot digitally. However, film and hand printed photographs (historical processes in particular) will always be a magical process. i will tentatively admit to the near 20 years i have been taking photographs.
I travel as often I can and strongly feel that with every experience I learn, grow and communicate better.
