Description In rural Pennsylvania Dutch country, brightly colored, round geometric designs were traditionally painted on barns and household items - and these beautiful designs were also rumored to ward off evil. This piece features a grouping of brilliant blue and gold, diamond-shaped hex symbol designs, on a black and white, checkerboard background. The image started as a photograph of thick, backlit glass, and the optical characteristics of the glass create the luminous, textured appearance of this finished piece. 2007 Douglas A. Griffin
Douglas Griffin, Nashville Member Since August 2007 Artist Statement I've always had one foot in the world of visual art and the other in music. I studied music composition in college and was very influenced by aleatoric, or "chance" compositions. I then started creating much of my music and visual art through aleatoric means, adding compositing techniques learned from Photoshop effects guru, Kai Krause. Somehow, all these disparate but harmonious influences come together in my art works. I hope you enjoy them.
