Description This is the only oil painting I did over the summer because of the emotional roller coaster it was. There were multiple points during its creation which I was very unhappy with it and contemplated whether this entire art show was a good idea. However in the end, we came to a point where I was willing to abandon it and am reasonably pleased with the result.Once, while in Switzerland, I helped catch some sheep. It was not a positive experience. I came to understand and appreciate the stubborn, fearful, stupidity of sheep in a way that I had not previously. This led me to realize that Biblical passages which compare humans to sheep were not particularly complimentary. However, over time and further contemplation of sheep, I have come to appreciate Biblical passages like Psalm 23 in a new way. In light of my very brief experience with sheep, a shepherds relationship with sheep becomes something far more impressive.
Duncan Ris, Abbotsford Member Since October 2009 Artist Statement I am young married student currently attending Bible college. I don't know what I am going to do with my life. I rediscovered my love of art and creation the summer of 2009 when I took a month just to paint and then held and auction to sell my paintings. I took art throughout high school and attended film school upon graduation.
My wife, Amy, is a source of both support and inspiration in my art.
